I get asked this a lot: how long has Tipping Point Recovery been around?
Honestly, it depends on which moment you count.
There was 2015 and 2016, when I was working on-call in the ER doing overdose interventions, watching families get left in the dark while the system circled around the person struggling with addiction. I didn’t have words for what was wrong yet. I just knew something was terribly wrong, and the support group I facilitated was when the foundational principles were created, though none of us knew it yet.
There was June 2017, when I incorporated Tipping Point Recovery. No clear services yet. Just a strong knowing that families needed something that didn’t exist.
There was September 2018, when I took a stage for five minutes, opened for Tommy Rosen, and handed out a piece of paper that said, “If your family needs help with intervention, call me.” That was our first advertising.
There was January 2019, when our first online membership started. Every week we gathered and started breaking down what wasn’t working in families, and building something that actually did.
And there was 2020, when we launched our first 12 week family intensive. We recorded those calls and the framework for Dear Family was born. They became Stop the Chaos and Foundations, programs that have gone on to help hundreds of families.
So, which moment do you celebrate?
Here’s where we landed after polling our Facebook group and our team: next June, we’re marking 10 years since incorporation in 2017. And in 2029, we’ll celebrate 10 years since that very first membership, the one that started everything.
Two milestones. Two celebrations.
And there’s a lot happening right now that fits that same spirit, real expansion, built the way we’ve always built things here: intentionally and organically.
Some of you may have already noticed Corey Beaver around more lately. He’s someone many of you know from our years of supporting families, and he’s been getting more involved with our work here. More on that, and more in general, soon.
But I wanted you to be among the first to know something big is ahead.
You helped build this.
You can help plan the party, or parties.
Email us at support@tippingpointrecovery.com and give me your best idea for how we mark June 2027, 10 years since incorporation. And while you’re at it, start dreaming with me: what would make an in-person event in 2029 truly special, one that celebrates the Dear Family Method, Changing Families, Changing Outcomes?

Kate
