The Biggest Gift to Yourself Is Your Own Recovery

You’ve likely said it before:

“I just want them to get help.”
“I just want them to want recovery.”
“I just want to fix this before it’s too late.”

But here’s what most families don’t hear often enough:

You deserve recovery, too.

Not because it will make them change.
Not because it will finally get through to them.
But because you matter. And your healing matters.

Foundations doesn’t ask you to save anyone.

It invites you to stop trying—and start building your own peace.

That is the kind of “help” your loved one needs from you.

This week, reflect on:

  • What am I hoping they will do…that I haven’t given myself permission to do?

  • In what ways am I still putting their recovery above my own well-being?

  • What would it look like to give myself the same love, compassion, and support I’m asking them to receive?

You don’t need to wait for them to be ready.

You can start now.

And when you do?

You show them what’s possible.

With you,
Kate
